Skiathos island in Greece
Skiathos is a small island in the Aegean Sea, the westernmost island in the Northern Sporades and the most popular of them in Greece . It is situated to the east of the city Volos and to the north of Euboea island and is called "the green island". The total land area of the island is about 50 km². The major travel destinations on the island are the town of Skiathos (in the northeast part of the island), Χanemos, Kalyvia, Troulos and Koukounaries. Skiathos Airport is located at the northeast of the island. Another way to reach the island is by the sea routes from Thessaloniki, Volos and Agios Konstantinos by hydrofoil. Despite its small size Skiathos has over 60 chiefly sandy beaches and the most favorite of them is the Koukounaries beach - the 7th best beach in the world.
